BECAUSE EVERYONE WHO IS DIFFERENT DESERVES TO KNOW

Journal Entry: Sat Apr 19, 2008, 8:00 PM
Why hello there people. I am back to give you more rantage about certain things in life. Honestly, I don’t really use this blog except for meme’s or rather important things like announcements and the like. Sadly, this time, it will be a rant/announcement/declaration/protest/allthethingsIwanttosayplusstuffIwantedtosaytothoseassholesoverthere type of post. And, well, this will not be pretty.

You guys all know I am a cosplayer, meaning I dress differently, I change hair colors and all that. It is my lifestyle. This is how I live. In the sense like how “EMO” is a lifestyle too. LOL. But that’s another topic. Point is, I KNOW I am different and I don’t care what other people think when I walk down the street with bleached blonde hair and chains and heavy visual kei make-up. I don’t care about the stares, the lewd comments that border on perverted and the whispers and shit. Like I said, this is the way I live and nothing can change that.

But apparently, the close-minded guards in SAN MIGUEL BY THE BAY IN MOA, think otherwise. I went out with my barkada yesterday. We were all dressed up, ready to have fun in the mall. In short, we were in costumes. It was fine at first, we were able to take pictures of ourselves and generally just have fun. We were walking around the mall trying to find some drinks and a resting place because it was frigging hot.

Then they came.

The security guards.

The ones in the mall were okay. They just asked us what we were doing and why we were there and what event was this. I wanted to roll my eyes and say, well, you see, we’re here to take over the universe starting with this planet, this continent, this country, this city, this mall, particularly, this very FUCKING SPOT. But no, I was nice enough to say that we were there to just rest since we were walking around and no, this was not any event, we were just going out as a barkada.

So we left them and moved to the BAYWALK AREA.

We were passing through to get to the empty lot next to it, which was… kinda on the other side. It was pretty far. And the sun was setting so we wanted to watch the sunset also. But noooo. Some guards had to go and keep asking questions…

“San po kayo pupunta?”

“Bakit kayo pupunta dun?”

“Ano po gagawin nyo dun?”

“Bakit po ganyan yung suot nyo?”

They even went so far as to gang up on us and start telling us that we weren’t allowed there because we dress FUCKING DIFFERENTLY.

BECAUSE WE FRIGGING HAVE COSTUMES.

BECAUSE WE WERE NOT ALLOWED TO JUST PASS THROUGH SAID AREA?! (WHO THE FUCK SAID WE WERE PASSING THROUGH? WHAT IF WE WERE ENJOYING THE FUCKING SCENERY?!)

BECAUSE, APPARENTLY, WE WERE DISTRACTING THEM PEOPLES IN THE BAYWALK AREA. (OH RIGHT, LOL, BECAUSE THEY'RE THE ONES IN WHITE LOLITA DRESSES AND WHITE HAIR.)

OKAY, NOW I WILL WRITE IN ALLCAPS.

I MEAN WTF!!!!!! WHAT KIND OF REASONING IS THAT?! YOU TELL ME THAT I AM NOT ALLOWED TO WALK AROUND WITH MY WAY OF CLOTHING AND MY WAY OF LIVING JUST BECAUSE WE FRIGGING DISTRACT PEOPLE?! HELLO!!! WE ARE FUCKING PAYING CUSTOMERS OF YOUR FUCKING PLACE!!!

SO WHAT IS THIS?! DISCRIMINATION AGAINST THOSE WHO LIVE LIFE DIFFERENTLY?! OF THOSE WHO DRESS DIFFERENTLY?!

WHAT ABOUT THOSE PEOPLE WHO WEAR THEM EMO WEAR OR WHAT ABOUT THOSE PEOPLE WHO WEAR THEIR HIP-HOP STUFF?! ARE THEY NOT ALLOWED THERE TOO?! NO WAIT, WHAT ABOUT THOSE PEOPLE WHO WEAR THEIR FUNKY KOREAN OUTFITS?!

IF YOU HAVE A DRESSCODE, SHOW ME IT!

I WANT TO SEE THAT IT SAYS, ALL RIGHT, THIS IS WHAT YOU WEAR AND WHAT YOU CAN’T WEAR. IF YOU HAVE IT WRITTEN AND POSTED WE WILL RESPECT IT.

We are not immoral people who bypass laws. If you have rules, we want them written down and posted. How can you follow rules if you don’t know that there are any at all? And WTF, WHAT KIND OF FRIGGING RULE DISCRIMINATES AGAINST PEOPLE WITH BLUE HAIR OR PEOPLE WITH SPANDEX AS THEIR ATTIRE?!

So we advise all cosplayers, no wait, also those emo people, and er, hip-hop people, plus, uh, wait, JUST EVERYBODY WHO LIKES TO DRESS UNIQUELY AND DIFFERENTLY, TO BOYCOTT MOA AND THAT STUPID TRASH-ASS AREA, THAT BAYSIDE THING.

Because apparently, the Philippines doesn’t have a democracy.

Apparently, we live in communist Philippines, where there are UNWRITTEN DRESS CODES.

And where freedom of speech, expression, and development of uniqueness and individuality is something that we can ONLY dream off.

WTF...just because you guys are wearing costumes? that's not fair...is there even a law that states that people are not allowed to wear costumes unless there's a special event or something? Those guards are so unreasonable <_<

I can't say I've been in your position, but I hope retribution comes to the security guards. Honestly, it's a shame how they responded to seeing you. It should have been embarrassing on their part. In due time, in due time.

I think it all branched off from some people who took photos and were a bit rowdy in MoA during some event. And even after they've calmed down and started "behaving", the guards still didn't let them out of their sight. (This account isn't entirely accurate though... I just remember this from some aftermath thread in FC).

...and to think that they were totally cool with cosplayers when MoA was relatively new. :stab:
